How is Oxford using digital technology in the humanities?
Since the 1970s Oxford University has played a major national and international role in the development and use of digital tools and resources for research in the humanities. Rather than having a single centre, work that applies digital technologies to humanities subjects draws colleagues together from across the University.
In these special videos, experts from across the University talk about the exciting ways technology is being used across different disciplines and explain how its application is allowing whole new fields of research to emerge.
The first video is a brief introduction to the digital humanities at Oxford. It offers a flavour of the many activities and collaborations that make up this vibrant and innovative field. You can also find out more about the many projects encompassed by the digital humanities here.

The second video looks at the Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School (DHOxSS) - an annual digital humanities training event which usually takes place in July at the University of Oxford. DHOxSS delegates are introduced to a range of topics suitable for researchers, project managers, librarians, research assistants, and students who are interested in the creation, management, analysis, modelling, visualization, or publication of digital data for the humanities.
DHOxSS is a collaboration for Digital Humanities at Oxford between the University of Oxford's IT Services, the Oxford e-Research Centre, the Bodleian Libraries, the Oxford Internet Institute, and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities.
